Find AdaptIVe at the ITS World Congress

During the ITS World Congress in Detroit, USA, from 7 to 11 September 2014, AdaptIVe partners will present AdaptIVe research during two Special Interest Sessions (SIS) and one technical session (TS).

SIS 50 – Towards Automation Deployment

Project Coordinator Aria Etemad, Volkswagen AG, subproject leader Luisa Andreone, CRF and Angelos Amditis, research director at the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems, ICCS will speak during SIS 50 "Towards Automation Deployment".

The goal of this plenary is to discuss the strategic issue of automation research challenges and deployment. The organizers intend to open the debate between a full automation scenario and a scenario where automation will be introduced gradually and step by step leading consequently to mixed traffic scenarios where possibly all modes of automation will be present.

The session will also examine the new research activities in the area and especially the AdaptIVe IP evolutions. SIS attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the new and integrated automated functions that will be developed in AdaptIVe and also to discuss the still remaining research challenges that need to be addressed to enable deployment.

Session speakers from Europe, the U.S. and Japan ensure an international perspective on the topic of automation. Please find here the list of speakers:

Angelos Amditis, Institute of Communication and Computer Systems

Luisa Andreone, Centro Ricerche Fiat S.C.p.A.

Aria Etemad, Volkswagen AG

Steve Shladover, California PATH, ITS Berkeley, University of California

Masao Fukushima, NISSAN MOTOR CO.,LTD

Adriano Alessandrini, CTL - Centro di ricerca per il Trasporto e la Logistica, Università degli Studi di Roma "La Sapienza"

SIS 74 - Towards Deployment of Automated Vehicles – Requirements for Road Testing

SIS 74 deals with “Towards Deployment of Automated Vehicles – Requirements for Road Testing”. AdaptIVe partner Institut für Kraftfahrzeuge ika, Aachen represented by Felix Fahrenkrog will discuss the evaluation challenges for automated driving. One aspect will be the testing of new developed automated driving functions in different test environments. The plenary will also offer the possibility to discuss the evaluation approaches and methodologies for automated driving functions with attendees at an early stage of the project.
